What we do at home

As we are currently awaiting the Rabbit's arrival, I only have Emily to worry about at the moment.  We have been working together about five days a week, for 30 minutes each day. During each session, we cover some or all of the following:
  1. Music for Young Children (MYC) homework (including keyboard practice on certain days)
  2. Reading - we've tried a number of different reading programmes, including the SAR DISTAR Reading Programme as taught in Engelmann et al’s “Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons”, the Peter and Jane series, Dolch sight words, Letterland phonics and Leapfrog phonics
  3. A lapbooking project – we work through different lapbooks at an extremely leisurely pace and based on themes selected by Emily
  4. The Right Start Mathematics programme - a Montessori-based Mathemetics homeschool curriculum
We mainly work in English, though I do try to incorporate some Chinese and French into the mix.

Wish us luck! We’re going to need it!
